Originally from Perth in Scotland, (grandparents from Thurso in the Highlands) leaving Scotland for Australia after finishing school gave her the bug for traveling. After working as a Videographer/Photographer out in the Caribbean she went on to study art at College then University receiving a BA (hons) in Graphic Design and Media Studies. Susie became an extremely passionate high school art/drama teacher and pursued this for almost twelve years. Susie's passion for art has led her to travel and study art/cultures/tattooing all over the world. She started showing her paintings professionally in 2005 when her "Red Harvest" was accepted into a Unicef/Batonga auction in NYC. Her passion for art always was exciting for her students however tattooing was the path she wanted to follow. Thanks to Emma Grech (Lady Luck, Portsmouth UK) and Fip Buchanan (Avalon 2 Tattoo, San Diego) for giving her the time to watch, learn and believe, she made it happen. She spent some time practicing under an Asian artist before returning back to the states to follow her dream and open Highland Ink the first tattoo shop to ever be allowed in the city of San Clemente. She has designed the studio not only to show her culture but the cultures from which she has experienced and loved over the years. Susie looks forward to meeting you all and hopes that the first tattoo studio in San Clemente is a very relaxing and positive experience for you.
